A full assessment of your skin is made along with a medical consultation to formulate the most suitable treatment plan for you. This treatment plan might take a multi-modal approach for maximum results.
Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a simple, non-surgical treatment. It consists of tiny injections in to muscles that cause wrinkles, in order to relax the muscles resulting in a smoother more youthful appearance.
I use TSK invisible needles ® for increased comfort. The injections take minutes and you can continue on with the rest of your day as normal with some simple aftercare advice. The treatment will take effect in less than 7 days and the full effect is reached around 2 weeks after treatment. The results generally last around 3 months but this can be longer. It has a cumulative effect and can last up to 6 months with long term use. Continued treatment gives optimum results.
Typically the treatments are in the upper third of the face; in the frown, forehead and around the eyes but it can be used in the lower face, which are advanced techniques.
Botox can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) by inhibiting the glands that produce sweat.
It has an excellent safety profile and has been used in medicine and in the NHS for many years.
A full consultation is required before Botox to ensure you are suitable for treatment; this also gives you the opportunity to ask questions.
Botox is a prescription only medicine (POM) and as an Independent prescriber I am able to prescribe for my patients.

A full Consultation is given prior to treatment but the treatment itself takes 15- 30 minutes depending on how many areas you are having treated. Each injection only takes seconds.
No. of Treatments
A single treatment is normally needed for the temporary reduction of lines and wrinkles, but a review is always offered within 4 weeks (around 3 weeks is ideal). Any additional treatment can be given then, if indicated, but this is rare.
Downtime
There is little to no down time. Your skin may be a little red and may have very small, raised bumps on the skin but these normally settle within minutes of treatment. As with any injections there is a risk of bruising, but these can be covered with sterile makeup.

Does the treatment hurt?
Treatment techniques and consumables are chosen to give the optimum results with minimum discomfort. I use TSK invisible needles, which are the smallest needles that can be used to reduce discomfort and the risk of bruising. The injections only take a few seconds, and a topical numbing cream is not normally required.
Will I see the results straight away?
No, results will start to show 3-7 days after treatment with the full effects visible 2-3 weeks after treatment.
How long will the results last?
The results can last between 3-6 months. Treatments need to be at least 3 months apart and regular treatments give a cumulative effect which improves longevity.
What is the aftercare?
You will be advised not to exercise for the rest of the day, avoid extreme heat (such as saunas, sunbeds), do not apply makeup and avoid rubbing or touching the area. Full aftercare advice will be given at your appointment.
Who can have this treatment?
A full Consultation is given prior to treatment to ensure you are suitable. Being unwell, suffering from certain health conditions or taking some medications may prevent you from being able to receive this treatment. This will all be discussed during your Consultation.
NB. You cannot have this treatment if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
