A skin lesion is an abnormal growth on the skin or where the skin looks abnormal/differs in appearance from the surrounding skin. These can be present from birth (birth marks) but tend to appear over a person’s lifetime. There are many types of skin lesions that can appear, with many different causes, for example, a virus (wart, verruca, cold sore), sun damage (age spots, keratosis), blood vessels (cherry angiomas, venous lakes), friction, creasing or rubbing skin (skin tags). These Benign skin lesions can be safely removed.
